Time Prepositions in Writings of Czech Deaf

The thesis deals with the written Czech language of the Czech Deaf, specifically with time prepositions in written Czech language of the Czech Deaf. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with feature and classification of Czech prepositions, especially time prepositions, based on Czech linguistic studies, and deals with attributes of written Czech language of the Czech Deaf related to use of prepositions. The practical part of the thesis includes research focused on usage of time prepositions in writings of the Czech Deaf and includes the analysis of qualities in the usage of prepositional phrases by the deaf students of secondary school for the hearing-impaired in Hradec Králové and analysis of written texts of Czech deaf students of secondary schools for the hearing-impaired. The thesis is based on Czech and foreign studies related to relevant topics and it should be a contribution to teachers who work in Czech shools for hearing-impared.
Production of weak forms of prepositions by non-native speakers of English

This bachelor thesis aims to reveal and describe to which extent non-native speakers of English from different L1 backgrounds employ weak forms when producing prepositions. The theoretical part focuses on vowel reduction and its importance for the natural rhythm of English. This concept is further explored from the Lingua Franca Core perspective and its approach to teaching vowel reduction. In the practical part, the analysis of a series of recordings is carried out. The recordings were taken from the L2-ARCTIC speech corpus of non-native English (Arabic, Hindi, Korean, Mandarin, Spanish, and Vietnamese). The purpose of the analysis is to explore whether and how speakers with different L1s reduce vowels in canonically weak forms of prepositions. The focus is placed on the quality and quantity of vowels in said prepositions and their duration with regard to their occurrence in either initial or medial positions. Prepositions Expressing Cause, Concession, Purpose and Condition in the Present-Day French

The bachelor thesis is concerned with the prepositions expressing cause, concession, purpose and condition in the present-day French. This thesis consists of theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part defines the prepositions from the positional, functional and lexical point of view. Syntactic and semantic functions of the prepositions are also here described. The aim of this part is to characterize causal, concessive, proposal and conditional relations and to introduce the prepositions expressing these semantic relations. The practical part is dedicated to the contrastive corpus analysis of the French prepositions and the searching of their Czech equivalents.
Semantic analysis of Swedish phrasal verbs with consideration of differences between prepositions and adverbs

(anglicky): In my thesis I analyze how Swedish verbal particles change semantics of the verb. Mainly I compare different types of verbal particles: bound and free particles, prepositional and adverbial particles. I observe how meaning of the verb + particle changes from local to metaphorical and further to lexicalized and grammaticalized meaning. Theoretical observations are based on general linguistics, particularly on premises of functional approaches. In the practical part of the thesis I analyze behavior of particles ut and av on a corpus sample. In the final part I compare conclusions made based on the literature with analysis of the language sample. The results show that most often verb + particle are lexicalized phrases. That applies even in cases, when the particle decides whether the action expressed by the verb has reached its end or not, which I considered partially grammaticalized in the theoretical part. Many of the lexicalized particle verbs have transparent meaning, which is possible to duplicate based on analogy. Such particle verbs with metaphorical, transparent meaning are source for great variability in the system of Swedish particle verbs. To the usage of chosen prepositions in the current Czech through a prism of Czech as a foreign language

v angličtině: This thesis deals with the issue of how to present prepositions in teaching Czech for foreigners. This topic has not been dealt with in detail yet, therefore its main aim is to call attention to some problematic moments in the presentation of prepositions in textbooks of Czech for foreigners. The thesis briefly describes the history of teaching methods in terms of presentation and the importance of grammar as well as the basic characteristics of the Czech prepositions are described based on their interpretation in selected studies. A sample of textbooks of Czech for foreigners ilustrates how prepositions are presented to students. The thesis also attempting to clarify the meaning of chosen prepositions of manner and formulate some general recommendations on how to effectively present Czech prepositions to foreigners.
Prepositions vs. prepositional article in contemporary Italian with particular regard to the preposition "in" and "nel"

The aim of this thesis is to compare the occurrence ratio of the preposition proper IN and contracted form NEL, to evaluate the results of the research and to arrive at new uses of prepositions in contemporary Italian. In the first part of my bachelor thesis, I will focus on the theoretical part in which I will summarize and describe individual monosyllable "proper" prepositions and prepositional articles. In the practical part of my thesis, I will examine the ratio of appearance of the prepositions "in" and "nel" and a, con, su (appearing in concurence) on the particular examples, using the online Italian corpus CORIS/CODIS and La Repubblica. Finally, I will evaluate the results of the study.

The theoretical part of the thesis summarizes knowledge about the written Czech language of the Czech Deaf, the ways of expressing tense in Czech language and in Czech sign language and gives the description of Czech prepositions, especially Czech time prepositions. The second part of the thesis is practical and includes the research focused on using time prepositions in writings of the Czech Deaf. The research includes the analysis of written texts and also testing of qualities in the usage of prepositional phrases by pupils and students of schools for the hearing-impaired. The thesis is based on Czech and foreign studies related to relevant topics.
Danish prepositions. Semantic analysis

5 ABSTRACT In this thesis, we examine the possibilities of a semantic analysis of spatial configurations represented by Danish prepositions. In the theoretical part of the thesis, we explore the means that cognitive linguistics uses to describe meaning in general, and to describe spatial configuration in particular. We also briefly present the results of several analyses of English spatial expressions. In the practical part of the thesis, we then apply the cognitive linguistics' terms and methods on material gathered from Danish dictionaries and grammar handbooks and Danish Corpus, in order to achieve an analysis of spatial senses represented by the Danish preposition i. The result of our analysis is a structured overview of the preposition's distinct spatial senses, accompanied by a suggestion of the preposition's semantic network. Temporal Prepositions in the Present-Day French

The topic of my bachelor thesis is the preposition with the meaning of time in contemporary French. This thesis is divided into two parts: theoretical and practical (empirical). The theoreticsl part is focused on describing the prepositions and their types. I describe also the particular prepositions with the meaning of time. The second practical part composes of corpus analysis and this part is going to defend the theoretical knowledge.
